I first tried yoga in 1992 with a VHS tape at home and loved it. The funny thing is, I didn’t realize I was doing yoga - I thought it was just another fitness video, but I loved it all the same. It wasn’t until years later, in a 26 posture Hatha class, when I realized it was the same class as my video!  I had been doing yoga a lot longer than I had previously thought.

In 2005 I started taking yoga classes a few times a week at my local gym and 3 years later I took my first hot yoga class. I was hooked. I had been a runner for 30 years and my body needed a lower impact form of exercise that still provided the physical challenge and mental benefits of running. Yoga did more than just fill that need - it surpassed it. I began doing yoga almost daily, and it has changed my life for the better.

I did my yoga teaching certification through YogaFit in 2011 and taught for 3 years before I stopped to focus on my job as a 7th grade science teacher. It has been such a gift to come back to yoga teaching at Yoga Uncorked! I love sharing yoga with people of all ages and levels and exploring all the interesting places we teach.
